Magnum was bred in 1980 at Hüll Hop Research Center in Germany and is known for its extremely large and heavy cones. It produces good yields, and like many of the Hüll varieties, Hallertauer Magnum has a high tolerance to disease.
Magnum is a high alpha variety, with little aroma. Sensory notes have been described as Lemon, green pepper, spearmint, and apple, Earthy, herbal, pine.
